My Review Of Slap Chop As Seen On TV
By piggybackhq
What Slap Chop does is real simple. You slap it, it chops your food or vegetables. Never need to switch blades. Chop up vegetables, nuts, & fruits, quickly and easily. With every slap, the finer the food gets. Easy to clean and dishwasher safe.
Opening The Box...
So when you first open the box you will be surprised that it does not come with any instructions. I guess that is just to show how easy the product is to use. You can either cut your food on a cutting board or you can use the little black cup thing that comes in the box.
The Celery Test...
If you make stuffing or anything with diced celery it is annoying most people can not stand dicing it. You can never dice it small enough, it just never comes together. So you need to hit it quite hard or the celery will stick to the blades. To get really finely chopped pieces you would have to slap it a couple of times.
The Garlic Test...
In the informercial they say take a clove of garlic and put in there. With one slaps the skin should come off and the clove should be ready to be put in a recipe. Well again I needed a few slaps to get the skin off and the garlic chopped into managable pieces. If you want it a little finer just remove the skin and give it a couple more quick slap.
The Tomato Test...
Next I took half a tomato and gave it a few quick ones. The first time with the skin down did not come out well. After putting the skin side up the tomato was indeed chopped up nicely.
The Nut Test...
Ok next was the nuts, I put them under there and gave them a few quick slaps, and out came a nicely ground nuts mixture which is perfect for your stuffing. So with that you no longer have an excuse for pounding your nuts with a hammer.
The Onion Test...
The grand finale with the Slap Chop was the onion. Everyone hates cutting the onion including me. After a few slaps the onion did not come out properly diced and it also had a lot of skin stuck inside. Although most of the skin did come off. I would say that is a fail on the onion.
Taking Graty For A Spin...
I also decided to try Graty which comes with the package. You take the cheese and you put in the little white compartment. You then want to twist the top part and out comes out your grated cheese. I found that you use the same amount of effort with Graty as you would with a normal grater, but yes it does work and it is fr.ee too.
So yes this little kitchen tool was a success. I am happy with it and will continue using it.

We bought it a couple of weeks ago and its just sitting on the platform of my kitchen. It is so difficult to assemble. Everything that I chop gets stuck inside the blades. Its so difficult to use! Dont buy SLAP CHOP!!
OK, seriously -
If you can't work the Slap Chop - do not drive a car, use an electric toothbrush or operate a stapler!
I am using my Slap Chop every day. I am tired of reading bad comments about this product. I gave the second one to my girlfriend and she is making salsa for me as I am writing this. Like any tool in the world it is only as good as the user. A hammer doesn't build the house on its own. I don't care if you buy this or not but i am happy with mine and that is all.
BTW - to all of you who can cut a tomato -> put the skin down go CHOP CHOP CHOP then grab the skin flip it and go CHOP CHOP CHOP -> PERFECTLY chopped tomato!
I AM NOT A PAID DUDE - I am just tired of UNFAIR and STUPID!
Neeti: are you using the little plastic insert that goes over the blades? I forgot it the first time and everything got stuck up in it.
Yeah, it doesn't help that no instructions are included, but still, there are websites and as Peter 'n' Heather say, it's not rocket science.
I made salsa in 1/4 of the time it usually takes me.
AND I have to say I got a good chuckle out of the last line above under "The Net Test."
This people is stealing!!! They charge 4 times the prize on my credit card, not only that, I called and they start talking about some extra charges, and the were really rude and told me "I cant do anything, have a nice day"
And, if the slap chop and the cheese grater works nice, I wont be this mad, but they doesnt work!!!!!!!
Dont buy this!!!! this is a scam!
scam -- charged me $85 for shipping.
U have to use a knife to get things small enough to put in the ch0p.. Soooooo just use a knife,50$ will buy u a nice one. Knifed cut food, slap chop crushes it
The Slap Chop was underwhelming at best. Glad that I opted for the Graty, though. It's an unsung product... no infomercial all its own..... I personally think the Graty should have got the mass marketing campaign, and the Slap Chop should have been the free upgrade. Graty's the better device.
Nice product for $19.00 but $65.00 for shipping and handling for a total of $85.00.....I learned my lesson....do not buy products advertised on TV.
i got this for xmas and i agree i think the both suck the cheese grater to i find you have to have a lot of musssels to use the grater
I purchased the slap chop and graty (x2) for 19.99. When my charge bill came in it was 45.52. I like how it works but I don't think I would pay that much again. Make sure you find out total cost before giving your charge acct. #
I personally think the Slap Chop is a very good kitchen tool, not for everyone though. I mean, you can give someone a $250 knife and they still don't know what to do with it. I mean, it is just a tool not a magic button. Btw, you need to add some power to it to make it work better.
Thank you for everyone's valuable comment. As tempted as I was to buy this product when I first saw it on Tv, I had to read the reviews first. After all, I've had a few encounters where I was scammed from these informercials. So after reading these reviews about how people got scammed, I think I'll be patient and wait to buy this in stores. If stores don't have it then I guess its meant for me not to have it, I just don't want any headaches dealing with shipping and handling fees where they overcharge you.
Definitely a scam on ordering and shipping. Cost me $75.08 . And there seems to be separate companies 1)TV infomercial and 2)well, I still am working on that but they state "If you placed your order via the infomercial on tv we do not have your order. We are not the same company that advertises on tv. You will need to contact the company from which you purchased your product.
Now even I am not sure who I ordered from.
my son loves the ads but I refused to buy anything from infomercials - got scammed on those no-run panty hose (made of the itchiest stuff) ANYways, I saw graty at one of the retail shops which carries many seen on TV items; bought to for $15 - it is so useless. It's easier to grate cheese with my 20 year old stand up grater, tidier as well. My sons all tried it, and it wasn't just put power into it; it's just not a very innovative product, slow and painful, quite hard on the wrists (we were grating mozza). My son just took all the cheese and stuck it in the Magic Bullet. Now that works! Graty was so cheaply made that even the logo smudged off after the very first use.
Buyer, beware. Great ad campaign though!
The guy on the TV makes it look soo fascinating, I like my kitchen gadgets and toys but just had to read the reviews to see if it was really worth it. I'm not a big fan of buting stuff from commercials , was wondering if Walmart or Kohls does slap chop in their stores?
You are better buying the knock off products in retails stores... They all are pretty much the same thing, and this device is not a new idea... choppers like this have been around for YEARS.
Ok so I went out bought this at Canadian Tire for like 12.99 and paid the HST on the product. Got home, rinced everything, put it together like the pictures shows, hey I can follow pictures, so it won't chop cuase the food guard is guarding the food. I slap it once, slap it twice, hear a snapping noise - the plastic food guard snapped UGHHHH now its no freakin good. Used it without, everything gets caught up in the blades - live and learn right? ahuh another blone moment in history :S Save your money, you already gotta chop it up small enough anyway ... get a real food processer ...
I just ordered a slap chop and im so excited. I just received in the mail today (4 days for shipping is very fast) and I loved it. It actually works, it sliced all my vegetables and fruit with no hassel, and the food didnt get stuck like advertised. Overall rating is 4.5/5 . I recomend this product to every kitchen or even restaurant. Its amazing.
